Just a Step Ministries is a ministry based on the foundational characteristic of faith that is a supreme trust in God to sustain and lead.
We believe that if faith be accepted, one must realize that trusting God is not just a turn to Him in times of convenience but a wholehearted surrender of ability to Him. Trusting God is daily giving up all that He has given us- reason, understanding, and ability, and trusting Him to give back to us what is needed to complete that days mission. It is seeking and listening to Him; trusting God is allowing Him to use the gifts He has given us, through us, as He sees fit. When accepted, this truth becomes a way of life not a mere motto or slogan. When accepted, Jesus becomes not only our reason for living, but our way of living.
The question that the principle above inevitably invokes, whose answer is that which undergirds the essence of our ministry is, "What does it look like to let God lead, to let go of what He has given me?" We believe that the answer to this question is not one that can be found by just reading the bible, yes by reading the Bible, but also by opening one's heart to the answer of God’s voice within ones spirit as well as then obedience - which God will provide, such therefore being a very personal answer to us all. Only God can till our hearts so that the soil which rests within may be able to understand and accept the answer to that question. It is therefore our goal to allow God to use us to assist others in opening their hearts and ears and eyes to God and so to really listen to and focus on Him.
Our ministry at Just a Step Ministries is grounded upon and inspired by a foundational conviction to give God everything; total control of our lives, from fundamental reasoning and understanding to guidance of and deliverance to where we end up. We aim to do this by facilitating an environment which assists in leading others to a quiet listening and processing of what God has spoken to their individual lives and helping them create a plan of action to follow through with the administration of their unique gifting in the way which the Lord has made known to be His will.

The Testimony of Benjamin Grimes
(3.16.2012)
Another day is born, another chance is given.
Another opportunity to serve the Lord is upon me and yet you remain.
I wake, opening my eyes into a battleground.
Yes, rather than staying away, you the enemy are in constant attack of my decision to follow the Lord.
As I stumble into the kitchen with the familiar headache from the war in my soul amongst my mind to remind my hopes for comfort in Christ that you will not rest, that from the presence of your attack I am to take heart, I begin to fall into the trap of being pulled away before I start. Yet, I realize that to doubt is of you satan, to doubt is to give you, not Jesus permission to control my day. You are the reason for and furthermore are the doubt. All I have to do is turn my back on you and I’ve turned my back on doubt. And in turning my back on doubt, turning it away from darkness, I turn my face towards light, I turn my life towards Christ!
Lord may You give me this day my daily bread and lead me to follow You. I trust that the path I will take today is instigated by Your will and laid before me by Your hand.
Father, I put my trust in You alone and give you this day.
My testimony is simple…
God took me from a place of death by way of manipulation through fear and a trust in idolatry, from a place of perverse sex and deceit and led me to a place of awe and wonder, encouragement and adventure and mostly – to a place of real peace through a still placement of the cross upon my heart.
“The saved sinner with the tilted halo has been converted from mistrust to trust, has arrived at an inner poverty of spirit, and lives as best he or she can in rigorous honesty with self, others, and God. …The saved sinner is prostrate in adoration, lost in wonder and praise. He knows repentance is not what we do in order to earn forgiveness; it is what we do because we have been forgiven. The deeper we grow in the Spirit of Jesus Christ, the poorer we become – the more we realize that everything in life is a gift.”
-Brennan Manning (The Ragamuffin Gospel)
Through inward revelation and experience with His truth, Christ has invaded my life, began to clean house and continues to whisper in the ear of my heart that He loves me and that He really is all I want, all I need… that He is enough.
From Christ’s whisper there has been born within me a passion to scream His name in all I do. Now I am, as are we all still being brought through sanctification to completion and therefore continue to fall. However, as God has brought me here, He continues to remind me that it is not depression I am to feel amongst my own imperfection but joy in my inability as it speaks to His ability and from here to focus only on His cross, picking up my cross and following Him in thankful, trusting humility.

When you find yourself in simplistic realization of change, when internally, therefore externally, an awareness of this new person is aroused yet change is seemingly absent from those around you, do you continue sitting in your chair staring out at the setting sun with a glass of Woodford Reserve in your hand? Or do you get out and allow yourself to be a light to those at the softball field?
I say, that you continue on in submission to this change, put on your ball cap, and gracefully let that which is now within you openly liberate those around you.
“The tilted halo of the saved sinner is worn loosely and with easy grace.”

JENNY MURPHY
My name is Jenny Murphy. I am a child of God. God called me to Himself in 2015 and my life has never been the same. God has given me a heart of love, as Jesus loved us we are to love each other and working with Just a Step Ministries has helped foster this. Working with Just a Step Ministries I have witnessed what it means to speak truth and live in and with the love of God. What do you think of when you think of a Christian, a lot of people think closed minded, hypocrites. Some people have been hurt by the “church” and have turned away from God. What I love about Just a Step Ministry is that they want to reach those people. To the people who think that Christians are closed minded, show them the heart of our Lord. To those who think Christians as hypocrites, teach them what it means to be a sinner who has been saved, that we can’t be perfect this side of Heaven but we can live in the freedom of being saved and not in the shadows of our faults. To those hurt by the church Just a Step Ministries can show what The Church really is. A place of love, forgiveness, brotherhood, family. My journey on this earth has been one filled with ups and downs, but when God called me I was coved in a peace I didn’t know excited. Just a Step Ministries has given me an opportunity to share what God has given me with others, whether it be putting together bags to give the homeless or to sit with someone who has been hurt by a church or others and tell them just what the good news of the Gospel is. I have been blessed to serve the Lord while serving this ministry.
